1 Remains Hospitalized After Deck Collapse

(WCCO) Brooklyn Park, Minn. About 13 people were celebrating on the deck at a home in Brooklyn Park, Minn. Saturday night when the deck collapsed, according to an eyewitness.

The house was located on the 7500 block of Colorado Avenue North.

The group had gathered on the deck to celebrate the house's refurbishment, said the witness.

Police said some people fell 8 to 12 feet to the ground. Two people were taken to a hospital, but only one remained hospitalized Sunday night. That victim, 54-year-old Karen Peterson, was listed in stable condition.

Among the rest injured was one woman who was seven months pregnant, as well as three children. None sustained serious injuries.

BROOKLYN PARK – According to police, 20 to 30 people were on a deck during a family gathering in Brooklyn Park Saturday night when the deck on the rear of the house collapsed.

Some people fell 8 to 12 feet to the ground. Two were taken to the hospital, a 61-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman. Others were treated at the scene.
